The project comprised construction of new embankment retaining structures on North and South stretches of the M74 motorway in Dumfries and Galloway.
Key work elements included:
– Demolition of existing blockwork end wall and disposal off site.
– Excavations to reduce levels along the line of proposed new retaining wall and installation of reinforced concrete foundations.
– Installation of Legato™ blocks to form new retaining wall
– Installation of land drainage behind new wall and connection into existing manhole chamber.
– Hardcore backfill behind new retaining wall.
– Topsoil/ seedbank reinstatement and re-seeding of embankment.
– Installation of post and rail timber fencing.
