Gosforth WWTW

Gosforth Waste Water Treatment Works, Cumbria

The project comprised delivery of civil engineering works associated with improvements to an existing United Utilities Waste Water Treatment Works at Gosforth, Cumbria to provide enhanced future resilience against predicted increased storm flows.

Principal work elements included:

– Construction and formation of new reinforced concrete storm weir structure with associated pipework, manholes and inspection chambers.

– Construction of new 38m3 storm tank including installation of 4m diameter PCC rings 3,9m deep, reinforced concrete foundations and benching,

– Construction of reinforced concrete slabs and footpaths for control kiosks and pumps

– Construction of new 300mm diameter outfall pipe from new storm tank to outfall location including installation of pre-cast manholes and construction of gabion wall at outfall discharge location

– Installation of new security fencing

All works located within a live and fully operational WWTW and extensive and effective pre construction engagement and coordination was required to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

We ensured all United Utilities / Advance SHEQ requirements were fully complied and all operational staff had current required training certifications and accreditations
