Grange Lido & Promenade, Grange-over-Sands

The project involved extensive external and internal repair, alteration and refurbishment of the dilapidated Grade 2 listed Lido complex within Grange over Sands in Cumbria. The project also incorporated extensive works to the existing 2km promenade and sea wall.

The site located within a very constrained and environmentally sensitive area (SSSI). Complex access arrangements including need to cross live railway line were required with careful and detailed programming and planning and close and constructive liaison with Network Rail and various other statutory bodies.

Main work elements within the Lido complex included;

• Extensive external and internal remedial works to four dilapidated existing listed buildings.
• Repair and reconfiguration of existing terraces and paths; formation of accessible accesses and circulation areas
• Infill of former Lido pool; installation of new drainage infrastructure and upgraded incoming electricity supply.
• Extensive temporary works were required to maintain and protect structural integrity of existing buildings.
