The project comprised the comprehensive redevelopment of a brownfield town centre site in Longtown, Cumbria, involving the phased demolition of the existing petrol filling station, warehouse and associated buildings.
The development delivered a new purpose-built SPAR convenience store with a reconfigured fuel forecourt, customer parking, EV charging infrastructure, landscaped external areas, new drainage and utility installations, and associated highway and site infrastructure works.
The building incorporates a modern steel frame with masonry and timber-clad elevations, composite roofing incorporating photovoltaic panels, and was designed to achieve an EPC B rating.
Delivered within a constrained live environment, the project required careful phasing to maintain safe operation of the existing forecourt during the initial works, together with close coordination of demolition, remediation, utility diversions and specialist fuel infrastructure installations.
